FePouLi is a 501(C)3 organization dedicated in changing the lives of young people throughout the South Florida region by using the arts as a springboard for transformation. For over the past 10 years, FePouLi has been dedicated in creating workshops that embody life skills to help empower the youth through practical conflict resolution strategies using poetry, hip-hop music, visual arts such as painting and film.
Founded in 1995 by artists’ Jean H. Marcelin and Patrick “Mecca aka Grimo” Marcelin, the duo has customized mentorship programs that target underprivileged communities implementing their Haitian Heritage and their advantage as Black male educators to create a positive impact to those they serve. In more recent years, FePouLi has extended their mission to include the wider community by honing in on the African proverb “It takes a Village to raise a child,” by providing family events and adult programming.
With Haiti only 710 miles from the coast of Florida, FePouLi has also played an active role in providing emergency relief efforts to the Island.
